Exploring youth-led social innovations in food systems (KB-28-002-004)

Project: EZproject

Project Details

Description

This two years research project (under the Social Innovation for Value Creation WUR research innovation theme) aims to explore how youth-led movements and initiatives foster social innovations, and what their potential is to transform food systems for inclusive, sustainable development. Our point of departure is from the interests and motivations of youth. Social innovation addresses the idea that new social governance, bottom-up initiatives and informal ways of working are highly necessary to activate and harness the potential of youth agency. With this research project we aspire to develop Wageningen expertise on youth inclusion and further develop the capacity on how to link with existing youth led movements and initiatives. This is relevant Wageningen University wide since we all have questions on how to transform the food systems and engage the future generations from both a social justice and sustainability perspective.
