Evaluatie UDD-regeling (BO-20-016-010)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

At March 1st, 2014, the new UDD-regulation was implemented. As promised in a letter to Parliament, at July 4th 2013, within this regulation an exception has been created regarding several specific diseases. In several animal husbandry sectors it is allowed for farmers to store a certain amount of ‘2nd choice antibiotics’ for animals at risk. This exception will be active during a period of 2 years, until March 2016. In that time frame, the sectors will have to reduce the incidence of these illnesses, and thereby the need to store the relevant ‘2nd choice antibiotics’ at their farm for animals at risk. It has been promised that the UDD-regulation and the effect of the preventive measures of the sectors will be evaluated 1 year after the introduction of the UDD-regulation, in March 2015. This evaluation can lead to a change in the measure and the agreements with it. The aim of this evaluation is to quantify the improvements in the reduction of the use of these ‘2nd choice antibiotics’, in relation to the specific diseases, in the mentioned species, en to quantify the reduction of these illnesses.
