In 2013 Favourable Reference Values have been established for all species (population and range) and habitats (area and range) of the EU Habitats Directive. These FRVs among other aspects determine the conservation status: species and habitats occurring below their FRVs have unfavourable conservation status. The projects objective is to estimate whether and how far FRVs can be realised in the period 2020 - 2044 (50 years after the directive came into force). About 50% of all species and habitat types requires moderate efforts to arrive at their FRVs. Habitat types generally need more measures (often at larger scale) than species.
