EU25035 FOSSNET - European Food Systems Science Network (KB-50-002-043)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

The full potential contribution of food systems science (FSS) to a sustainable and resilient EU food system can be addressed by unlocking two major shortcomings: few structures exist in EU for connecting FSS research to education; food systems thinking is underused in network relations of academia with business, civil society, policy & society.
FoSSNet aims to deliver a Pan-European Network for Food System Science that will:
- Deepen understanding of food systems from interconnected research & education.
- Scale up interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary science collaboration with engagement of academia and end-users in farming, food, education and policy.
Six main activities are implemented for this goal (Fig.1): 1) create a common language and understanding among food system thinkers, 2) establish and consolidate the leading EU network for FSS, 3) enhance sensitivities to inequities that pervade food systems and contested transformation processes, 4) produce exemplary research practices for field labs on food system transformation, focused on place-based networks and true pricing, 5) build a young academy of food system thinkers along with academic curriculum development, and 6) develop a model for sustaining the network and create impact.
