Project Details

Description

The overall project objective of CODECS is: To improve the collective capacity to understand, assess and foresee the full range of benefits and costs of farm digitalisation, and to build digital ecosystems that maximise the net benefits of digitalisation. The specific objective for Wageningen Economic Research (as lead of WP2) is: To build the conceptual “system-approach / actor-centered” base for “sustainable digitalisation” of agriculture and a layered cost-benefit assessment framework. CODECS will (i) produce and provide information on the costs and benefits of digital technologies – assessed at different scales and in real life - to farmers in a total of 20 living labs, as well as to advisors and policy makers, (ii) study and create the conditions for increasing capacities of farmers and rural communities to use them, and (iii) build policy recommendations to foster the agricultural digital technologies conducive to sustainable development. CODECS will also be devoted to recommending policies based on: (i) specific engagement activities as Living Labs at regional, national, European level, (ii) a dedicated work package on policy analysis and policy tools (iii) the establishment of a science-policy interface and a set of policy briefs as a part of the Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation (DCE) strategy.
