EU-20006 AGENT - Activated GEnebank NeTwork (KB-50-006-003)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

AGENT aims to transform gene banks from living archives to bio-digital resources centers that can meet the demands of a changing world. Using barley and wheat as example crops, AGENT focuses on mapping genomic diversity, making existing and to be generated phenotypic data available and implementing a new concept for predicting traits in gene bank accessions. FAIR data management will be implemented to make data more findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. AGENT will develop data mining tools for new functionalities in the field of access, visualization and analysis of data, which can be incorporated into the EURISCO database and other data portals. A network of users is directly involved in AGENT in the development of workflows and tools, so that project results find their way directly to the broad user community, including gene bank curators, researchers and breeders. The generic nature of the new knowledge and tools will be tested on other crops to maximize the impact of the project in breeding and conservation.
