The purpose of the project is to develop state-of-the-art EpiTools to support policy makers and the epidemic control centre during epidemics of classical swine fever, foot and mouth disease and highly pathogenic avian influenza. These tools are based on epidemiological models and aim to support taking scientifically-based decisions in a situation with few and incomplete data and large uncertainty concerning the nature and severity of the clinical situation. an important item is to get the EpiTools operational in order to have them ready at the start of an outbreak/epidemic. A total of five Tools are planned to be developed: EpiTool_intro, EpiTool-Riskmap, EpiTool-R, EpiTool-size en EpiTool-intervention. EpiTool-intro and EpiTool-riskmap were developed in 2015; in addition there was contact with the Ministry of Economic Affairs to prepare a convenant that organizes the delivery of location and animal species data of animal farms to CVI, that will be part of input data for the EpiTools. The rest of the EpiTools will be developed in 2016 and the project will be finished with a workshop with policy makers to present the EpiTools that were developed.
