Project Details

Description

EKLIPSE is a Horizon2020 project that has developed a European Mechanism to answer requests from policy makers and other societal actors on issues related to biodiversity and ecosystem services. EKLIPSE has received the following question: which types and components of urban and peri-urban blue/green spaces have a significant impact on human mental health and mental well-being? Its secretariat has composed an expert working group to answer this question. This project was formulated to finance the Dutch participation in this expert working group. In the course of one year, the expert working group will assess and synthesize relevant knowledge related to the types and characteristics (components) of urban and peri-urban natural spaces (blue and green) that have significant impact on human mental health and mental well-being. And based on this, recommendations for the conservation, creation, design and management of green and blue spaces that will benefit citizens, by maintaining or enhancing their mental wellbeing and mental health, will be provided. The outcomes will be reported in a publicly available report.
