Project Details
Description
The project includes all tasks on the assessment of authorisation of animal feed additives.
The goal of the project is to establish assessments and technical scientific guidance for the ministry of Economic Affairs (PAV) on the efficacy and target animal safety of animal feed additives and dietetic feeds for the purpose of authorisation within the EU as well as exemptions on national level for trials with unauthorised products (testing exemptions), to be issued by the ministry of Economic Affairs (applications via Veterinary Medicinal Products).
The animal feed legislation is largely a conversion of rules which are set at the EU level.
The base is Regulation 767/2009/EC of 13 July 2009 regarding the placing on the market and use of feed (Feed marketing Regulation).
Advising on Animal feed additives and Dietetic feeds:
Advising on animal feed additives occurs on the base of Regulation 1831/2003/EC, and Regulation 429/2008/EC, which contains detailed rules for the assessment of authorisation of feed additives.
Advising on dietetic feeds occurs on the base of Regulation 767/2009/EC and Directive 2008/38/EC.
Advising on Testing exemptions:
In order to allow manufacture and transportation of feed containing an unauthorised product (Regulation 1831/2003/EC) that must be investigated (with the exception of additives from the antibiotics group), a trial exemption may be requested for the purposes of an initial sampling, extension or modification or sampling.
This possibility for an exemption is elaborated in section 28 of the Animal Feed Decree and sections 58 through 60 of the Animal Feed Regulation.
