Project Details
Description
A digital twin is a virtual model of a physical entity which is constantly updated with (near) real-time data. These models have been used for many years in engineering and business but their potential within ecological science is yet to be realised. This project seeks to apply digital twins to key ecological issues including human-wildlife conflict, protection of critically endangered species and biodiversity monitoring within four protected sites across Europe. With these digital twins in place, the data generated with not only inform ecological research, but also fuel evidence-based decision making within protected area management.
