Debottlenecking circularity and climate (KB-34-003-033, KB-34-003-002)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

Debottlenecking of recycling is one of several routes to enable the transformation towards a circular economy. This debottlenecking of recycling requires an integrated approach of interventions targeting consumers, industries along the value chain (including waste management) and policies simultaneously. In this project, we apply the butterfly model to structure and clarify the bottlenecks and explore and test several intervention opportunities. We study a developed (but complex) recycling system (plastic packaging) with a new complex recycling system (textiles) to optimally use lessons learned. Key aspects will be technological aspects and limitations, safety aspects and consequences, the role of the consumer and how to mobilize the consumer and the required policy interventions.
