Covalent organic framework for capacitive gas sensing.

Project: PhD

Project Details

Description

This thesis aims to synthesise novel functionalised Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs). COFs are crystalline, porous materials with nanometre-sized, regular pores. The functionality in COFs is crucial to tailor its properties to the desired application. Therefore, different approaches are explored to introduce a variety of functional groups in the framework. The obtained COFs are thoroughly characterised in terms of chemical structure, crystallinity, and surface area. The chemical, thermal, activation, and bench stability of the frameworks will be investigated to obtain a better understanding of this new class of materials. Furthermore, the interactions with vapours and gasses with be studied for vapour sensing and gas separation.
