Consumer preference driven optimization of efficient pork production in China:A dynamic Decision Support Tool

Project: PhD

Project Details

Description

In China, consumer-driven pork production and optimized management is complex, involving numerous inter-related factors. The main future challenge of Chinese pork producers is to simultaneously meet consumer preferences and maximize profits throughout the value chain. Particularly (cost-)efficient nutritional strategies are pivotal in this optimizing problem. A Decision Support Tool (DST) would be of great help to future pork producers in long-term decision making(e.g., breeding), as well as short-term one (e.g., feeding strategies, slaughter weight). This tool would increase the competitiveness and quality of pork production while maximizing consumers satisfaction. Since such a tool is currently missing, the aim of this research is to develop, validate and apply a dynamic DST.
