Description
The CocoaSoils project (cocasoils.org) focuses on the nutrient demand of cocoa trees through 1) fertilizer experiments and 2) through sharing data and knowledge of cocoa related efforts across the globe. It is an international project that has a mix of research, NGO and business representatives. CocoaSoils plans to share and communicate field experiment data across and beyond its partners and intends to integrate many of the external and current cocoa related efforts across the globe. WENR Earth Informatics group's role in this project is to facilitate quality data collection and archiving, data discovery and semantic enrichment, tailored visualization and exchange of cocoa datasets thorough knowledge sharing platform. Our involvement in CocoaSoils will facilitate access to knowledge discovery in cocoa research and business which will facilitate the decision making process leading to more sustainable cocoa growth. Expertise gained a this stage will make cocoa dataset interoperable and FAIR. Further infrastructure and workflows for sharing cocoa datasets can potentially be transferred to other plant production system making WUR (PPS and EI groups) key players in this domain.
