It possible to avoid the negative effects of food/feed competition and ilUC (indirect Land Use Change) by varying the demand for first generation fuels in such way that biofuel production is high when feedstocks prices are low and availability is high? Can this also help secure supply for first generation feedtocks for chemicals and avoid sustainability concerns as expressed for biofuels?
2. It possible to develop lignocellulosic commodities to lower the cost and secure the supply of second generation fuels and chemicals? And what measures need to be taken to bring these commodities about.
