Project Details
Description
This project examines citizens' initiatives and thereby focuses on mechanisms of spatial and social bonding. In short this means that examines why and how groups of people committed to a specific site (nature, landscape, cultural history), and what this place - in turn - turn means for people, both individual and group level. The many citizens' initiatives are expressions of how (groups of) people take care of their own environment and can be characterized as a transition 'from below'. This research focuses on the way of self-organization initiatives to move the boundary between public responsibility and active citizenship, and what can be for governance (how we organize society).
