Description

The Brown Ridge will be assigned as Natura 2000 area due to the significance  for the seaird species razorbill and common guillemot. These diving birds can get entangled in gill nets and this may not compromise maintaining or reaching the conservation objectives. The study is aimed at assessing the extent of the gill net fishery on the Brown Ridge and an analysis the possible effects of razorbills and common guillemots. In case negative effects according to the criteria cannot be excluded, mitigation measures will be discussed with stakeholders in order to solve problems. Economic value assessment and consequences of measures on economic values is also included. It will also be aimed to gain insight in the gill net fishery activities by foreign countries in the Brown Ridge. 
The study methods consist of desk studiesby IMARES and LEI and 3 workshops with stakeholders about 1. data analysis, 2. Conflict analysis, 3 Possible measures.
The results will be described in a report.
