Description
Reliable and accessible knowledge of the subsurface (soil, geology, groundwater, mining) is essential to perform a large number of policy tasks. Gathering and making this knowledge of the subsurface available for authorities, companies and civilians is the primary objective of the Subsurface Registration Act (SRA), so that decisions regarding the use of the subsurface in the Netherlands can be supported by facts . The following is mandatory for public authorities 1) provide soil and subsurface data according to agreed standards, 2) use the standardized subsurface data in their tasks, 3) report false data to the owner of the data source. The SRA specifies which data and models regarding soil, geology, groundwater and mining have to be registered and according to which standards. It also specifies use and provision of these data and models.
