BO-Positieflijst gezelschapsdieren (BO-20-008-004.03)

This project involves the assessment of risks (animal health / welfare, injury, zoonosis) of keeping (exotic) mammals as a basis for policy decisions regarding placement of mammal species on a so-called pet list (formerly positive list). This will enable the 'no, unless' principle of the animals Law. Pet list contains mammal species that are exempt from the general prohibition on the keeping of animals, whether or not using to be determined species-specific husbandry requirements. In a participatory process to develop a rating system that allows the deployment of experts from various stakeholder organizations and based on bibliographic information about species, demonstrably held mammal species in the Netherlands will be assessed. Also, a web domain will be realized that makes all information, underlying a placement decision, for citizens tranparant.
