Behoud en bevordering van bestuivers – verbetering van mitigatiemaatregelen door analyse van ecologische processen. (KB-14-003-006)

Project: LNV project

Project Details

Description

Effective mitigation of loss of pollinators and pollination services requires a distinction  between strategies to protect and promote endangered pollinator species and strategies to enhance pollinators for the services they deliver (pollination). Conservation initiatives with intrinsic biodiversity objectives should focus on protected areas and on High Nature Value farmland where agri-environment schemes promoting traditional low-input farming practices effectively protect vulnerable pollinator species. Strategies to enhance pollination services should be targeted at more intensively farmed areas because in these areas ecosystem services are likely to be reduced due to the intensive farming practices. Here, agri-environmental measures promoting floral resources effectively enhance service providing pollinator species.
