Dutch government and industry like to increase the transparency of agricultural food chains. A group of experts called kwartiermakers reported about the added value of origin labelling for the food chain and consumers.  For the pig chain Beter Leven a pilot has been developed which consists of   four research themes;

  1. Development of a QR code for consumers to track the pig meat at the level of a group of pig producers;
    1. Theoretical possibilities and the costs of tracking the pig meat at the level of the individual pig producer including the opinion of pig producers about this kind of tracking and tracing;
    2. Willingness of consumers to pay for origin labelling of pig meat;
    3. Options to increase the transparency of the meat chain and their (dis-)advantages.

Research theme a is partly done out of scope of this research program, however the results and data will be integrated in the research program.
