Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

The Dutch National Vegetation Classification will be revised upto the level of association and subassociation. Major changes will take place in fringe communities and scrubs, but also some of the grassland, heathland and tall forb communities as well as forests will face important changes. The former overview dates from some 20 years ago (Schaminée et al. 1995-1998; Stortelder et a. 1999), and during the last twinty years a lot of new data and information (national and international literature) has become available. At the moment, more than 560,000 computerized in situ vegetation descriptions are at hand, against 80,000 of such descriptions at the end of the ninetees. Also the software for identifying vegetation plot descriptions (ASSOCIA) will be updated.
