Actors, technologies and practices: how spatial ontologies shape dynamic ocean management

Project: PhD

Project Details

Description

This project, funded by NWO as part of the OR-ELSE (Operational Recommendations for Ecosystem-based Large-scale Sand Extraction), aims to interpret and discuss the (differing) temporal and spatial onto-epistemologies of governing, private sector, academic, and societal actors as they relate to sand and the broader Wadden and North Sea socio-natural systems; to gain insight to the relationship between stakeholder onto-epistemology and decision-making; to better understand the ways, and extent to which, informational processes, technologies, and partnerships shape the interactions among stakeholders; and to contribute to the emerging field of dynamic ocean management by providing insight to governance conditions and related opportunities and challenges.
