Project: LVVN project
In the context of Natura 2000, the Netherlands is obliged to bring habitat types in a favorable conservation status. This is particularly true for priority habitat types, which should receive special attention given the high European interest. In 2016 a study "Towards an Action Plan for Species-rich Nardus grasslands H6230 and H2130C" (van der Zee et al., in press) is performed. This study showed the dramatically poor conservation status of these grasslands, especially the dry forms. H6230 and H2130C are priority Natura 2000 habitat types, so it is urgent to start with successful actions. At a national level only 30-40 hectares Nardus Grasslands with reasonable quality is left. The report provides tools to start with pilot projects in several provinces to save these habitat types and improve their quality. The provinces have requested a specific Action Plan based on further analysis. In what areas could promising pilots be arranged and how should these pilots should look concretely?
