Aanjagen Nature Based Solutions (NBS) voor de oplossing van maatschappelijke opgaven (BO-43-203-002, BO-43-108-020)

Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

The aim of this project is to offer action perspectives for promoting and fastening the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to the ministry of LNV and other Dutch public authorities. NBS can contribute to the solution of various societal challenges related to for instance drought or flooding. While the potential of NBS to offer a contribution to the solution of diverse societal challenges in various policy domains has been emphasized in various studies, implementation in practice is lagging behind. Currently, it is insufficiently clear why this is the case: what are reasons that NBS are not applied more often? And what is needed to promote and fasten their implementation?

This project is envisioned as a four-year exercise, in which the first year is used to work on a further delineation and prioritization of the research questions together with a variety of stakeholders. In this way, the aim is to first gain clarity on the barriers for NBS implementation in practice and how this study can link to these points in year 2 – 4. Eventually this leads to a more detailed project plan at the end of year 1, with a clear vision of the ‘where-to-go’: in what way and with which aims the remainder of this project should be undertaken. Eventually, this helps working towards the overall goal of this project by linking the research to dilemma’s and obstacles that are experience in practice.
