Project Details
Description
ICT (e.g. RFID) makes it possible to identify pigs individually and recognize traits like behavior and activity. This enables pig farmers to watch pig health, welfare and production closely, and adjust farm management to the pigs' needs. ICT also allows for sharing information throughout the production chain faster and more accurately, providing new perspectives for precision livestock farming, tracking & tracing, customer marketing and individual food advice.
This project aims to disseminate state-of-the-art knowledge and open discussion about how the pig sector can utilize modern information technology to individually manage pigs on farm and link producers and consumers more closely together.
