Project Details
Description
Knowledge and data obtained from various expertise groups within the KB Reversed Engineeringproject will be combined and integrated into a unified approach to assess new food product development/design scenarios. Modern information technology can be leveraged in this approach for a large scale software solution in the future. This project aims to make the first step in that direction, by designing the initial version of a suitable software architecture and associated data model to allow computer-based communication between various models provided by expertise groups. The main activities for data model development and design consist of discussion, definition, and alignment of terminology (explicitly or implicitly) used by expertise groups to describe existing data, models and knowledge. Subsequently, the aligned terminology will be formalized in an ontology and stored in machine-readable format (RDF) in order to facilitate future automation on a larger scale. Additionally, this project will investigate current knowledge gaps that may hinder development of a unified data model. The insights gained and recommended next steps will be summarized in a PowerPoint presentation and shared within the Reversed Engineeringproject team.
