1-3D-2 Sustainable lignocellulosic biomass supply for the circular biobased economy (KB-34-012-002)

In this project we concentrate on lignocellulosic biomass supply - from local sources for local applications to large scale transported over large distances through intermediate “Commodities” that link prduction regions to markets. The supply of wood from European forests is modelled by extending the functionalities of the EFISCEN Space model.  

We also analyse how lignocellulosic biomass can be utlized: to produce energy, fuels, chemicals/polymers and (building) materials. Case studies provide insights in demand and supply from local to global scales.
