Project: LVVN project

Project Details

Description

A transition towards circular, sustainable and resilient agricultural and forestry systems requires development of well adapted varieties and breeds en optimal use of the accessible genetic diversity in crops, livestock and trees. The plant and animal breeding sector need to strengthen their efforts towards improvement and development of varieties and breeds for a range of innovative, future production systems in agriculture, horticulture, animal production and forestry. This project will design a range of innovative production systems, on the basis of expected societal and market demands. Those typical and representative designs will be discussed in expert focus groups and in breeding sector focus groups. Based on focus group discussions, we will identify implications and opportunities for the breeding sector, and we will identify elements for a strategic WUR research agenda.
