In this study, the potential of the Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinION sequencer was evaluated to assess its potential to screen complex food products on location. To test the MinION sequencer, two experimental fish mixtures were prepared, and the performance of the MinION in identifying fish species was compared to DNA metabarcoding using Illumina MiSeq technology.
