Description
Despite the wealth of research into strategies for microbiome modulation in pigs, studies have found mixed results. Here, we follow the development of the pig gut microbial community in a monitoring experiment, sampling the microbiome at a high temporal resolution. We find rapid successional dynamics, as well as non-linear abundance patterns over time for many key taxa in the community. Our research demonstrates the importance of considering time in microbiome modulation strategies.
