Technological innovations towards phasing out fossil feedstock

Activity: Talk/presentation/lectureLecture/seminar/webinarProfessional

Description

In order to phase out fossil feedstock for materials a transition is needed towards production processes that solely depend on feedstock from recycled materials, biomass and carbon dioxide. This session will touch upon different early stage technological innovations that are being studied within WUR along these pathways. In this respect the session will address new technologies to recycle complex materials (e.g. composites and textiles), innovative routes to utilize biomass for plastics production and new routes to more efficiently convert CO2 into molecular building blocks. Ultimately the session will highlight that for a truly fossil free and circular economy a combination of solutions and technologies is required and that WUR is on the forefront of these developments.
