Basecamp “Emoties van de professional"

People who experience long-term poverty or related vulnerabilities often face stigma and trauma, leading to negative emotions such as shame, sadness, fear, and frustration. Many have had negative experiences with support services, resulting in distrust toward institutions and professionals. While much research has focused on the emotions of people in poverty, the emotional work required of professionals in these interactions remains underexplored.

In this basecamp, we will examine the concept of emotional labor in professional support settings. Through discussions, we will explore how professionals manage and respond to the emotions of people experiencing poverty, how they experience this emotional labor themselves, and what challenges and insights emerge from these interactions.
