Salinity is rising worldwide, disrupting water, energy, food, and ecosystems. How to move forward?

This webinar shares the experience of formulating pathways together with farmers in high, medium and low saline areas in coastal Bangladesh. Application of ReAp approach to explore sustaining inclusive in-polder water management by joined effort of water and agriculture institute and end user of water to address challenges like increasing salinity. Initial findings show that farmers in low lying areas seem less busy about changing farming, than farmers in areas already experiencing (seasonal) salinity and willingness to learn from each other. Moreover, water and agriculture sector are eager to work together with farmers for a sustaining water management in polder. Further, the webinar presents global salinity hotspots, and the developed assessment method. If we know better which regions potentially are very vulnerable for salinity in future - we might better be able to act and additionally share knowledge among the hotspots.
