Description
This presentation reports on a study investigating the fate of compostable products in an industrial composting plant. The central aim of the study was to gather more empirical data on whether the disintegration rate of compostable products is sufficient to be compatible with current organic waste treatment practices in the Netherlands. In the presentation, the observations in this full scale waste treatment trial will be discussed and interpreted. Although differences between products were observed with regard to disintegration rate and fate, the researchers conclude that compostable products which comply with the requirements in European standard EN 13432 disintegrate fast enough to be compatible with the current Dutch GFT waste treatment systems.Period | 7 Oct 2020 |
