Most of us would agree that we must ‘find answers together’ to contribute to sustainability transitions. But what does this ask of you as a researcher and the methods or theories you use? What do you expect of scholars with another disciplinary background? And how do you justify the way you do research? Let’s explore this together.Transdisciplinary researchers are expected to integrate different forms of knowledge across disciplinary and professional divides. They are also tasked with creating forms of knowledge that speak to specific academic fields, government bodies, citizens, or professional domains. In this dialogue, we wish to explore the different expectations, experiences, and challenges of creating and integrating knowledge in the context of sustainability transitions.
This dialogue is meant to generate connections within the WUR community to enhance future collaboration. From social scientists to natural scientists, from monodisciplinary researchers to transdisciplinary workers, from PhDs to program leaders. Erik Poelman (PSG), Simon Oosting (ASG), Jeanne Nel, Bas Breman and Meghann Ormond (ESG), Barbara van Mierlo, Hilje van de Horst and Mareike Smolke (SSG) will participate in the dialogue. Let’s explore what we can expect of one another and learn how to clarify these expectations in future collaborations.
