DG AGRI Workshop on Improving agricultural modelling for the impact of extreme weather events

Activity: ConsultancyOther

Description

Based on the advancements of the EU-FP7 project MODEXTREME (Modelling vegetation response to extreme events, http://modextreme.org), the workshop presented novel solutions to model the impact of extreme events, and discussed the extent for their effective implementation in the policy decision making. The workshop focused on improved process-based approaches to predict yields from agricultural production systems (arable crops, grasslands and trees), and their implementation into modelling solutions. EU officers from agricultural business were invited to attend the workshop, which provided participants with opportunities to discuss and explore emerging modelling approaches to the impact of extreme weather events in agriculture.
